With restrictions easing, ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to be able to welcome Islanders back to the ‘ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up’ series, a programme of weekend-long exhibitions featuring the work of local artists.
You’re invited to ‘pop up’ to the Greve de Lecq Barracks on Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 March between 10am and 5pm to enjoy the art on show in our two studio spaces. There is also the opportunity to get a better insight into artists’ work and practices with Bianca Paddidar and Ariel Luke on hand to talk to visitors about the exhibition.
Bianca Padidar is a teacher of textiles and fashion, and an award-winning textile artist. She has been producing creative textiles of different types and styles over the years, specializing in shibori textile art, contemporary textiles and stitch. Her creations are imitations of nature, featuring complex surfaces created with sustainable and natural materials. The physical and visual aspects of nature provide her with timeless inspirations for her work providing ready-made designs in terms of sculpture, texture, contours, endless colours and patterns. Her work brings to life a personal ‘memory on cloth’, reflecting the complexity and beauty of the natural environment.
Ariel Luke studied at Wimbledon School of Art. She then exhibited with the young contemporaries at the Royal Academy and at other venues in London, spending the next decade concentrating on screen printing and gallery shows. She has also shown her work in Sydney, Bahrain, Hong Kong and New York. In 1984 she was commissioned to paint her first house/garden and since then has completed over 100 pictures of this genre in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, France and Italy. She has exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show and at Courson, near Paris. Amongst the better known are paintings of Glydebourne, Garsington, Stowell Park and Bledlow Manor as well as some intricate and charming London gardens.
‘ArtHouse Jersey Pop-Up with Bianca Padidar & Ariel Luke’ takes place this weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 5pm at Greve de Lecq Barracks
