Earlier this month, we were joined by Jennifer Lucy Allan, a British musicologist, writer and radio presenter with a passion for the social & cultural history of foghorns.
During her time in Jersey, she delivered a talk about the social and cultural significance of the foghorn and shared with us her expertise and love for the iconic coastal sound.
She told stories about how the foghorn was invented, and how people reacted when it was first installed, along with the folklore that echoes through vintage science-fiction stories and cinema.
