Latest round of artists successful in applying for ArtHouse Jersey’s Development Grants
We are pleased to announce the successful artists who applied for the third round of our Development Grants in 2025. This quarterly funding initiative offers financial assistance to support the creation of new work or for the development of an artist’s creative process. Artists working in any discipline can apply and the guidelines and application form can be found here. The quarterly deadlines are 1 February, 1 May, 1 August and 1 November. Among those in this most recent quarter were film and TV projects, a new music album, an EP, a novel and visual art projects.
Jonny Labey: Development of the film 'Gi
Jonny Labey has been awarded funding towards capturing the initial footage for his new film 'Gi'. This will be used as a proof of concept to secure further investment for the full production. Jonny was awarded an ArtHouse Jersey Development Grant in 2023 for his first short film ‘Swirl State’ and since then he has established his own production company, developing original films based on personal life experiences. Gi explores masculinity, vulnerability, and personal reclamation.
"ArtHouse Jersey has been instrumental to my life growing up in Jersey, through workshops, showcases or events they give so much variety to Jersey's art scene. To now have been awarded a grant to develop my second film ‘Gi’ is both hugely appreciated and a chance to help instill the ethos they gave to me onto the next generation of filmmakers on the Island. I've developed so much as a writer and director thanks to their support of my first film ‘Swirl State’ last year and I am excited to work towards hosting local screenings”.
Minna Pemberton: Drawing Intensive at the Royal Drawing School
Minna Pemberton is a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in illustration. She is looking to transition toward a fine art discipline with deeper conceptual communication and technical refinement. She explains that this drawing three-month course at the Royal Drawing School will provide the facilities, structure and high-level tuition that she needs to rebuild her portfolio.
“It is an enormous honour to receive this grant from ArtHouse Jersey, enabling me to take part in the Drawing Intensive course at The Royal Drawing School in London. As a young artist, exposure to teaching is one of the most important aspects to developing your practice. Taking part in the Drawing Intensive is so important, as it provides me access one of the most prestigious schools for drawing in the world, an opportunity to learn from esteemed practitioners in my chosen areas of etching, figure drawing and narrative illustration, as well as introduction to future opportunities for scholarships and teaching. This grant will provide me the privilege of time to fully dedicate myself to my creative passion, and I am so thankful to be supported by Arthouse Jersey for this stage of my artistic development.”
Dullal Miah: Fiction book ‘Through the Cracks: Life in the Care System’
Dullal is a hyperrealism artist based in Jersey who aims to amplify unheard voices and celebrate identity through pencil portraiture, workshops and his new fiction book about growing up in care. This Development Grant will be used towards working with a professional editor for the book which intends to serve as both a testimony and a guide for others navigating similar paths. It will inform and enrich the workshops that he delivers with young people, helping them explore identity, build confidence, and find their voice through art.

This support will provide the time, space, and resources needed to shape these memories into a powerful narrative that explores identity, resilience, and belonging. Through fiction, I aim to give voice to the often-unheard stories of those who grow up in care, and this funding will help bring that vision to life”.
Marc Hepburn (The Peach Motel): Creation of a new album
Marc writes and produces indie music inspired as much by classic 60s-era artists such as the Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles, as by modern indie artists like Men I Trust and Mac DeMarco. He writes lyrics that draw on personal experience, with themes of freedom, travel and finding a sense of purpose in modern life. This funding will enable him to record and release his first full-length album.

Paige Le Geyt: Creation of new visual artworks
Paige Le Geyt is a sculptural artist who creates interactive, tactile sculptures that invite people to touch and explore. Her work draws on her lived experience of OCD and Autism, using amorphous forms and textures to communicate neurodivergence. This funding will be a contribution towards her skills development through the opportunity to interact with new processes and materials.

Jake Day: TV pilot ‘The Claimants’
Jake Day has worked in film and television as a location manager for seven years and he is looking to develop his career by producing his own written works. He has been awarded a grant towards ‘The Claimants’, a series based on his experience of working in Jersey's Income Support department. This funding will be used to develop the first episode and produce a pitch deck to present the series to producers.
James Roche: ‘NOWHERE CALM’ EP for a new dance music project
James Roche is an electronic music producer, known for his energetic, melodic productions and high-impact remixes. He has been awarded a Development Grant for the production of a 4-track EP for a new dance music project ‘NOWHERE CALM’. This will support the creative ambitions that he has been working on for the last year behind the scenes and is intended to resonate with an audience that relates to the energetic and euphoric escape of dance music.
