ArtHouse Jersey is a charity that exists to bring art into everyday Island life, not as something distant or exclusive, but to be felt, shared and experienced by everyone.

We believe creativity has value in its own right. It can entertain, challenge and inspire. But it also does something more: it helps people feel connected, strengthens communities and makes Jersey a more vibrant place to live, work and visit.

From children encountering art for the first time, to Islanders discovering creativity in unexpected places, to artists developing ambitious new work, our role is to make space for art to happen and to ensure as many people as possible can take part.

What we do

We create opportunities for people across Jersey to experience, enjoy and take part in art, producing ambitious new work, presenting accessible programmes and supporting the artists who make it possible.

We collaborate, building partnerships with schools, charities, communities, businesses and government. By measuring our impact and sharing what we learn, we help strengthen Jersey’s creative ecosystem for the long term.

Our work is guided by three connected aims:

We nurture

We support artists at all stages of their journey, through grants, commissions, paid work, studio space, professional advice and opportunities to make and experiment. We work to remove barriers to access, so that creativity in Jersey reflects the diversity of the Island and reaches those who stand to benefit most.

We produce

We commission and develop ambitious, relevant art for the public to experience, rooted in Jersey yet connected to the wider world. By working with artists from Jersey and beyond, we bring new perspectives to the Island and create opportunities for people to engage with bold, meaningful content.

We present

We run a year-round programme of exhibitions, performances and events, many of them free to access, across our own spaces and in the public realm. You don’t need prior knowledge or confidence to take part. Whether you’re a regular gallery-goer or someone who’s never stepped into an exhibition before, you’re welcome. Whilst we would not expect everyone to like everything, we are confident that there is something for everyone within our programme.

Why it matters

Creative engagement is slipping out of everyday life for many people. Arts education is under pressure. Access to culture is often unequal. Social isolation, mental health challenges and questions about the Island’s future are growing.

ArtHouse Jersey responds to these challenges by placing creativity at the heart of Island life.

Our work supports

  • Learning and personal development, by embedding creativity in education and lifelong learning

  • Health and wellbeing, by creating opportunities for connection, expression and joy

  • Community and place, by bringing art into public spaces and shared experiences

  • Jersey’s economy, by supporting creative careers, skills and innovation

When people engage with art, they don’t just consume culture, they participate in it. They feel seen, valued and connected. That’s the change we work towards.

Working together

We don’t do this alone. Partnership sits at the heart of everything we do, with artists, schools, charities, community groups, cultural organisations, businesses, supporters and the government.

ArtHouse Jersey receives an annual grant as part of the Government of Jersey’s pledge to commit at least 1% of its revenue to arts, heritage and culture. As a charity, this funding provides an essential foundation for our work, but it does not cover everything. The generosity of donors, partners and volunteers helps make our programme possible and ensures creativity in Jersey continues to thrive.

Together, we’re helping to shape a more confident, connected and creative Island, today, tomorrow and in years to come.
