Summer Series
Featuring eclectic nights of theatre, film and music
13 June to 18 July 2026 (various dates and times) at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House
This June and July 2026 we are delighted to present a diverse series of events in our ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House exhibition space. Featuring a vibrant selection of local and international artists the Summer Series kicks off with the mind-bending disco-funk of Tea on Mars and the Royal Court hit Manwatching, before moving into a showcase of independent local film and the poetic drama of Port-au-Prince and its Sweet Night. From the subversive cabaret Much Too Much and the Berlin-based folk of Viv Le Vav to the cutting-edge audiovisual experiments of Grace MacDonald and Shamica Ruddock, the series culminates in a performance by synth-wave pioneers Turquoise Days. Tickets for each of the Summer Series events can be purchased via ArtHouse Jersey’s Eventbrite.
Tea on Mars - SATURDAY 13 JUNE, 7PM
Strap on your tea cozy and get ready for the music of Tea On Mars! A new local ensemble playing mind-bending, optimistic and high energy original compositions (by Martin Coxshall) from disco funk to acid jazz to Latin grooves. With the promise that there will be something everyone will love and ‘it will change your life’, Tea on Mars features Jennah Smart (flute, sax), Tama Coxshall (bass), Dan Macfarlane (guitar), Marcus Verrel (drums), Bean Le Bouec (rap), Tim Horsfall (sax) and Lily-Mae Fry providing theatre and magic!
Manwatching FRIDAY 19 AND SATURDAY 20 JUNE, 7PM
Written by an anonymous woman, performed by an unprepared man. Following an international tour with the Royal Court Theatre we are thrilled to present this funny and frank insight into heterosexual female desire, read out loud by a male comic. This is a show about what one woman thinks when she thinks about sex with men.
Short Film Night SATURDAY 27 JUNE, 7PM
Six films. Six distinct voices. One unmissable evening of bold, locally made cinema. This showcase brings together short films supported by ArtHouse Jersey’s Development Grants, exploring themes of identity, care, community, mental health, and belonging. From dark comedy and documentary to intimate drama and thriller, each film offers a unique perspective and a powerful story. The evening concludes with a postscreening Q&A, giving audiences the chance to hear directly from the filmmakers behind the work. Tickets £7.
Featuring: Swim by Lucy Abraham and Molly Byrne, Quicksand by Jessica Garton and Ted Walliker, Swirl State by Jonny Labey, The Nun Slayer by Harry Green , She Fishes by Sabine Gilley and More Than It Hurts You by Áine Daly & Jordan Cox.
Port-au-Prince and its Sweet Night preceded by Antigone / Agonist FRIDAY 3 & SATURDAY 4 JULY, 7.30PM (100 MINS)
In a candlelit room in Port-au-Prince, Zily and Ferah love, cry, remember and tear each other apart, moving to the rhythm of a city gripped by violence. Zily does not want to leave without Ferah, but he, who still feels useful there, cannot bring himself to leave the island. How can love survive in a collapsing city? Poetic, sensual, funny and deeply moving, Haitian writer Gaëlle Bien-Aimé’s semiautobiographical play Port-au-Prince and its Sweet Night captures the whispered intimacy of a sprawling, broken place. A powerful evening of poetry and theatre directed by acclaimed Ukrainian–French director Lucie Berelowitsch and produced by Le Préau (Vire, Normandy), performed by two extraordinary actors. Performed in French with English subtitles. The performance is preceded by Antigone / Agonist, a new music-text poem inspired from Greek tragedy and recurring histories of resistance, the sacred and unjust power. Created and performed by Jersey-based musicians Rui Figueiredo (guitar), Michael Freeman (saxophone) and James Tyson (voice). Presented in association with the Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche.
Much Too Much FRIDAY 10 JULY, 7PM
A cabaret for anyone who was ever told to tone it down. Come witness poetry, dance and music burned into the stage by artists reclaiming the parts of themselves they were asked to hide. Led by subversive feminist poet Emilie Epperlein Coward, stage name ‘My Hairy Vulva and Me’ and documentary photographer Shan O’Donnell- two artists who know too well what it’s like to feel too loud, too bold, too weird. Much Too Much is a celebration of excess, intensity, vulnerability, and unapologetic presence. Tickets: £15.
Viv Le Vav: Focus on the Heart SATURDAY 11 JULY, 7PM
Viv Le Vav (aka Vivian le Vavasseur) is a Jersey-born folk-pop singer-songwriter now based in Berlin. Living an unconventional life in a self-built yurt on the outskirts of the city, Viv brings a distinctive voice shaped by both classical training and a fearless, contemporary songwriting approach. A seasoned performer, Viv will share songs from Focus on the Heart, their 2024 EP supported by an ArtHouse Jersey Development Grant, alongside new material from Music for Moths, an upcoming album due for release in spring 2026. Following an intensive 50-city tour in 2025, audiences can expect thoughtful and provocative songwriting, soaring vocal melodies and an intimate live performance, self-accompanied on piano.
Grace MacDonald & Shamica Ruddock FRIDAY 17 JULY 2026 AT 7PM
A welcome return to Jersey for Jersey, Swiss-based composer and musician Grace MacDonald, joined by UK-based sound and film artist Shamica Ruddock, for an evening of electronic and pop experimentation. 3rd Person, 1st Person, 2nd Person, a new audiovisual performance by Grace MacDonald in collaboration with Swiss visual artist Manon Keller, combines live music (saxophone, voice and electronics) with video. Shamica Ruddock presents a continuation of her improvised sonic project Drum Language, which used electronic experimentation to explore Maroon and AfroCaribbean folk drumming traditions. Following a residency in Jersey, she will present new work connecting her ongoing research with the island’s landscapes and histories.
Turquoise Days SATURDAY 18 JULY, 7PM
Turquoise Days are Jersey synth-wave pioneers, originally formed in the early 1980s and now enjoying a renewed international following. As interest in synth-wave continues to grow across Europe and the Americas, the band has recently played headline shows in Antwerp, Paris, Athens and Leipzig. Originally a duo comprising Luciano Brambilla (Luchie) on vocals and guitar, and David Le Breton on keyboards and drum programming, Turquoise Days expanded into a live band with Chris Petra on bass guitar and Paul Bentley on keyboards. Their sound is melodic and emotive, blending synth-wave, minimal wave and cold wave influences. With over 3.3 million views on YouTube and 3.6 million Spotify streams for Grey Skies, Turquoise Days are delighted to return to Jersey to perform live. Tickets £15.
