New public art installation bringing joy and colour to St Helier. Open until Sunday 14 September 2025. IFC 2, International Finance Centre, Esplanade, St Helier. Just 2 minutes walk from Liberation Station.
Delivered in partnership with Jersey Development Company. Sponsored by Butterfield
ArtHouse Jersey has brought a spectacular new public art installation to the heart of St Helier! Entitled ‘Bubbletecture’, this immersive artwork is transforming the footprint of IFC2 on the Esplanade into a glowing, playful wonderland for all to enjoy from Thursday 28 August to Sunday 14 September 2025. The project is delivered in partnership with the Jersey Development Company and sponsored by Butterfield.
The centrepiece of this free, family-friendly experience is a dazzling arrangement of 8-metre-high iridescent spheres, or ‘bubbles’ - designed by award-winning Sydney-based artists Atelier Sisu. Titled Evanescent, the artwork responds to sunlight throughout the day, scattering rainbow reflections across the ground and inviting visitors to lose themselves in its shimmering beauty. Paired with a bespoke soundtrack and magical lighting effects that run from 9:30am to 9:30pm, Bubbletecture is designed to captivate people of all ages and backgrounds.
The Bubbletecture art installation sits within a specially designed outdoor environment on the yet to be developed IFC2 site, creating a temporary green space in the middle of St Helier, just two minutes walk from Liberation Station. As well as admiring the installation, visitors will be able to take part in a diverse line-up of free cultural and wellbeing events each weekend.
The installation will be open around the clock, free to the public and entirely unticketed, with security and support staff on site throughout the exhibition period. Every detail, from on-site wayfinding to accessibility measures, has been designed to make the experience welcoming and easy to enjoy.
Whether you're looking for a fun family outing, a tranquil space to reflect, or the perfect photo opportunity, Bubbletecture offers something for everyone. Visitors are encouraged to share their experience using #BubbletectureJersey

Bubbletecture FAQs
-
Bubbletecture is part of ArtHouse Jersey’s Butterfield Public Art Series - a free, family-friendly installation of giant inflatable bubble sculptures created by Australia.
-
The International Finance Centre on the Esplanade, next to Trenton Square.
If you come out of Liberation Bus Station and head left, cross the road and keep going about 150m you'll see it on your left. Follow the pink Bubbletecture arrows. -
The inflatables are called Evanescent and were created by Atelier Sisu, an award-winning artist duo from Sydney, Australia. They have toured around the world - from Sydney to London and beyond - and now they’ve come to Jersey!
-
Bubbletecture runs from Thursday 28 August to Sunday 14 September. The sculptures are up every day 24/7, weather permitting, and a special extended programme of activities happens every weekend.
-
Yes! The installation is free and open to everyone.
-
There is a designated accessible drop-off and collection point. Approaching via the Esplanade from either the east or the west of the Island, take the road next to the entrance of the old Esplanade car park (now signposted for Les Jardins Car Park) and follow the road around. There will be an accessible layby before the underpass and just meters from Bubbletecture. The road continues to Les Jardins Car Park via the underpass where paid parking is available.
-
Bubbletecture is free and open to everyone 24 hours a day, and the atmosphere changes throughout the day with the changing light levels. If you or your child prefer a quieter experience, we’d recommend visiting in the mornings, early evenings, or on weekdays when we expect it to be generally less busy and there are no live performances or music scheduled.
The bubbles are accompanied by a gentle soundscape which is subtle rather than loud, and there’s plenty of space around the installation to explore at your own pace. If you’d like to step further back from the action, there’s seating and grassy areas in Trenton Square that provide a bit more distance while still enjoying the view. We hope this helps you find a time and place that feels comfortable - and that you and your family/friends can enjoy the bubbles in your own way. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
-
There are public amenities 3-4 min walk away at Sand Street Public Car Park and at Liberation Bus Station, both with baby changing and disability facilities. There are also two coffeeshops at IFC with toilets for patrons.
-
Please enjoy the bubbles respectfully. The inflatables are artworks, not playground equipment, so to keep them safe for everyone we ask people not to lean, kick, or climb on them. You may touch them gently.
-
The installation is weather-dependent. In very strong winds or heavy rain we may need to temporarily close the site for safety. ArtHouse Jersey will make that call, and stewards will guide visitors if this happens.
-
Yes! Bubbletecture is designed to be safe and fun for all ages. Children must always be supervised by an adult, and we ask visitors to respect the artwork so everyone can enjoy it.
-
Absolutely! We encourage people to take photos and share their experience - just tag @arthousejersey and use the hashtag #BubbletectureJersey

Yes, we welcome the capture and sharing of imagery of our public art installations. However, requests for drone capture should be made to ArtHouse Jersey via e-mail at info@arts.je, at which point we will confirm or deny permission on a case-by-case basis and plan accordingly so there is never more than one drone circling the artwork at any one time. As per air traffic control guidance, drones should be flown at least 150m away from congested areas or 50m of structures. All sharing should tag ArtHouse Jersey, Butterfield Jersey, JDC and Atelier Sisu where possible.
-
The performance is choreographed by Jamaal Burkmar, a Leeds-based choreographer, and performed by Ballet d’Jerri. They respond to the installation with uplifting, music-led dance that brings the bubbles to life.

The sound design for Evanescent is credited to Joseph Burgess (aka Unregistered Master Builder) and is described as an ethereal soundscape with electroacoustic audio. At the Charlotte International Arts Festival (2024), the installation was paired with a new score titled “Sprezzatura” composed by Ryan Persaud (project name Sweat Transfer), with saxophones by Dylan Ward.
-
The artwork (and by extension its sound world) was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to evoke fragility, impermanence, and childlike wonder - the fleeting beauty of bubbles and the sense that things we take for granted can vanish quickly.
