Collins Pop Up Exhibition Series: Rebecca Coley

We are delighted to announce the latest in our Collins Pop Up Exhibition Series, a programme of weekend exhibitions held throughout the year at Grève de Lecq Barracks studios. The upcoming show on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September features Rebecca Coley, an acclaimed local filmmaker, director, writer and producer working across documentary and narrative storytelling. The interactive exhibition, titled Points of Change, will take visitors on an immersive journey through Coley’s creative process, exploring the moments, inspirations and people that shape a filmmaking process. Open from 10am to 5pm on both days.
Blending a retrospective of Coley’s award-winning short films with new, experimental concepts, the exhibition will feature live performance elements, script fragments, photographs, archival camcorder footage, and interactive video installations. Points of Change will trace Coley’s career from her early bedroom scrapbooks to major projects showcasing Jersey’s influence and ArtHouse Jersey’s support over the years.
The exhibition will invite audiences to move through the work almost like moving through memories - encountering different stories, images and moments along the way - before becoming part of the exhibition themselves by sharing a story, film, book or experience that changed the way they see the world.
Rebecca Coley said, “I’m really excited to bring these films together for the first time and see them not simply as individual pieces of work, but as part of one continuing conversation. I’ve always been fascinated by moments of change - the encounter, decision, loss, discovery or person that suddenly shifts the direction of a life. Looking back through my work, I realised that idea has been there all along.
Greve de Lecq Barracks feels like the perfect place to explore that. It has its own history and sense of place, but ArtHouse Jersey has turned it into somewhere for experimentation and new ideas. I want people to wander through the exhibition, discover stories they might not know, laugh at some things, be moved by others, feel nostalgic and recognise others, or discover something new and hopefully leave thinking about the stories that have changed them too”
