ArtHouse Jersey Presents Photo // Synthesis: A multi-sensory installation by London-based artists Kiskadee & Studio Aszyk
Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 October, 12 to 6pm at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House

ArtHouse Jersey is proud to present Photo // Synthesis, a new multi-sensory installation by Jersey composer Jack Chown (aka kiskadee) and digital artist Neal Coghlan (Studio Aszyk). Taking place at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House across the weekend of Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October, the project invites audiences into a space where sound, image, and environment unite.
Developed in partnership with Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and the National Trust for Jersey, the installation draws from field recordings, 3D plant scans, and soundscapes captured at Durrell’s organic farm and the nature reserve at St Ouen’s pond. These raw materials have been transformed into immersive, interactive artworks that preserve fleeting encounters with the natural world that will transform the gallery space.
Visitors will encounter interactive visuals, layered sound compositions, and evolving digital environments that frame nature not only as subject, but as co-creator. The installation balances high craft with cutting-edge technology: Chown weaves processed field recordings into organic electronic soundscapes, while Coghlan uses photogrammetry, motion capture, and simulation to reimagine natural forms. Photogrammetry is a technology that turns ordinary photographs into accurate 3D models or maps. By analyzing overlapping images taken from different angles, it creates a detailed digital replica of objects, buildings, or landscapes.
“Every plant scan, every recorded texture is a fragment of time,” explain the artists. “We treat them as collaborators, not just raw material. Crafting the work is our way of giving these moments permanence, and offering audiences a chance to reflect on their own relationship with the natural world.”
This new project marks a return collaboration between Chown and ArtHouse Jersey, following his involvement in Paper Dialogues (2016) and the innovative commission Sound of Colour (2019). The latter, created in partnership with painter Jason Butler and film artist Todd MacDonald, explored the relationship between sound, colour and Chown’s experiences of synesthesia. The work went on to screen internationally, including at On Art Festival in Poland and the New Renaissance Festival in London, where it was nominated for Best Documentary Short.
