This November, the lights go down, the cocktail shakers come out, and ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House becomes The Cocktail Studio.
Across two long weekends, 19 to 22 & 26 to 29 November, the gallery will host a series of artist-led workshops and hands-on experiences designed for curious adults looking for a different kind of night out. Whether you're learning the art of sgraffito, sketching a friend with portrait artist Jason Butler, crafting your own festive decorations or mastering the perfect cocktail, every event combines creativity, connection and a touch of indulgence.
At the heart of it all is a specially created cocktail bar, serving cocktails and seasonal drinks while providing a welcoming space to relax, meet new people and continue the conversation long after the workshop ends.

Drawn Together w/ Jason Butler

Grab a partner, pick up a pencil and get ready to see each other from a slightly different perspective.
Led by acclaimed portrait artist Jason Butler, Drawn Together is a relaxed and entertaining portrait session where you’ll be guided through capturing the character of the person sitting opposite you on paper. There’s absolutely no drawing experience needed. This isn’t about creating a perfect portrait. It’s about having a go, enjoying the process and discovering what happens when you really look at someone and try to capture what you see.
Come with a friend, partner, family member or whoever you fancy drawing. Jason will be on hand throughout with guidance, encouragement and plenty of tips, while you settle in with a drink and see where your pencils take you.
Sgraffito Pottery w/ Lucinda Wakeham

Pick up a piece of pottery, choose your colours and get ready to make it completely your own.
Led by ceramic artist Lucinda Wakeham, this relaxed workshop introduces you to the satisfying art of sgraffito, a decorative technique that involves layering colour onto pottery before scratching or carving through the surface to reveal your design. You’ll start by applying colourful underglazes to your piece before creating your own design and using specialist tools to carve it into the surface. Lucinda will guide you through the process, helping you experiment with the technique and create something personal to you. There’s absolutely no experience needed. Whether you arrive with a design in mind or simply want to see where the process takes you, this is a chance to try something new, get creative and enjoy making something with your own hands – with a drink nearby, naturally.
Cocktail Making Masterclass

Step behind the bar and discover what goes into making a seriously good cocktail.
Led by the experts from Bitter & Twisted, this lively, hands-on masterclass will introduce you to the techniques, ingredients and know-how behind perfectly balanced drinks.
You’ll learn how to mix, shake and build cocktails for yourself, picking up some of the tricks of the trade along the way, from getting the balance of flavours right to mastering the all-important shake. And, of course, you’ll get to enjoy the results.
No previous cocktail-making experience is needed. Just come ready to get stuck in, learn something new and enjoy a fun and sociable evening with a very drinkable reward at the end of it.
Festive Felt
Sunday 22 November, 2.15pm. £45 + booking fee. BOOK FESTIVE FELT
Settle in with a drink and spend a relaxed afternoon creating your own handmade decorations for the festive season.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of working with felt to create a selection of charming Christmas decorations to take home. You’ll learn the techniques you need along the way, with plenty of opportunity to choose your own colours, details and finishing touches.
No previous experience is needed. Just come ready to make, experiment and enjoy a few hours doing something creative. Your finished decorations can find a place on your own tree or become thoughtful handmade gifts for someone else.
