As part of the Channel Islands Contemporary Art Show, ArtHouse Jersey invites you to the gallery for the launch of local author Dreena Collins’ powerful new novel, Perotine, that revisits one of the most haunting episodes in Guernsey’s history.
Abandoned, faithful, and on trial for heresy. In 1556, three ordinary women found themselves at the centre of a trial that spiralled into accusations of heresy; Perotine Massey, Guillemine Gilbert, and Catherine Cauchés were later dubbed ‘The Guernsey Martyrs’. Perotine is a new novel inspired by this dramatic true tale.
Join Dreena Collins as she discusses the women’s lives and trial, the challenges of retelling this story, and how the landscape of Guernsey helped to shape her narrative.
Come along to hear more about these emotive events and enjoy select readings from the novel, while enjoying the artworks on display.
Tickets: £8 via Eventbrite
